Description
*Code Torrent* is set within the surging data streams of the internet backbone. Players control a data packet navigating the torrent while avoiding infection by error codes (such as 404 and 500). A key feature is Packet Fragmentation: when encountering narrow passages, players can split into multiple smaller packets to pass through and then reassemble on the other side; however, if any single fragment is hit during this state, the game ends.
The 5,200 levels are divided into five protocol layers: Physical, Data Link, Network, Transport, and Application. Each layer contains 1,040 levels. Data flow is linear in the first two layers; the latter layers introduce out-of-order packets (obstacles moving in reverse), while the Application Layer even features DDoS attacks (screen shaking and a massive influx of obstacles).
Skill Packs: Redundancy Check adds a margin of error for fragmentation; Sliding Window allows the player to slightly influence surrounding data streams while moving, pushing obstacles aside; Resume from Breakpoint allows for a single retry at the point of failure. Upgrades require Bit Shards.
